ONCE UPON A TIME IN KIRAYAN

Here come anew teardrops from heaven. My bike’s running to and fro while growling in the rain.

It’s time to bring with you once more your best kept raincoat. Summer is here again hence wear also your traditional mud boots.

Once upon a time, it ain’t raining during summertime. Under the heat of the sun, all we did then was feasting on fruits and flowers in wild abandon, and camping out on peaceful shore and frolicking in the still waters of the blue lagoon.

Once upon a time, dry and rainy seasons didn’t usurp each other’s schedule of arrival anywhere in the nation. Today, even ants are in quandary as to when to start storing food really as the whole colony is also in confusion.

Once upon a time, a river ran through it and went directly out to sea without disturbing our lives or sweeping along our properties. Today, rivers and floods would run through our houses to claim our lives as troubled waters no longer flow under but over the bridges.

Once upon a time, people had high regard for the Supreme Court and understood every form and substance of the law and wisdom in its every judgment. Today, people can’t understand anymore why letters were entertained instead of a pleading and what the phrase “final and executory” really meant.

Once upon a time, incompetent people, grafters and corrupt were jailed when they mess around with other people’s money. Today, the GSIS then led by Winston Garcia is still paying hefty sums to incompetent personnel feasting around the members’ money.

Once upon a time, a fatted calf was killed in honor of the honor pupils who were also made to wear fine linen just to walk up the stage. Today, they cough while in stage to get their medals and wear weary old school uniforms which were once white but now turning beige.
